December, 2009 from Hidayat Inayat Khan
New Year's Message 2010
"The Alchemy of Happiness"
Perhaps there is a secret key to resolve the paradox in which the self-created ego is constantly defocusing itself from the true self within. This psychological misconception of reality generates complexes where one makes oneself unhappy within the horizon of one's own restricted mind-world, as well as being a nuisance to others.
Mastery over this dilemma could be accomplished through endless struggles with the ego, steadily confronting this iron faŤade with the flames of love offered to others without any expectation of return. This process is traditionally known as the "Alchemy of Happiness".
Happiness, which is the secret goal of our destiny, can only be truly experienced when it is discovered without any detriment to others, and in which case, it is then the ego that bears the sacrifice of its own unfoldment. But one can only offer happiness to others if one knows how to dispose of it, in the way of precious jewels that then become available in accordance to the sense of appreciation of the receiver.
In this connection, one could imagine oneself facing a closed door, knowing that on the other side precious vases containing happiness can be reached, but the key to the door must be found. That mysterious door symbolizes the door to the heart, and the key symbolizes the sword of wisdom with which the ego is to be vanquished. There are golden keys, silver keys, copper keys and iron keys, but one also needs to know how to use the key once one has found it. All methods have their qualities but what is important is to be aware of what type of self-discipline is practiced, and what is the true purpose of the efforts made?
If no accomplishment is discovered on the path of the "alchemy of happiness," one might be tempted to simply break open that symbolical door, but to one's disappointment, the precious vases would also be destroyed, and nothing would remain other than one's own restless and untamable ego.
In all religious scriptures one comes across the term "Love" expressed in so many various contexts, which can also be symbolized in the shape of a heart with wings flying in freedom from all egoistic limitations, guided by the light within. But what is the feeling heart? Is it not the Temple of Love, and if so, could one possibly invite the Beloved within that Temple if the ego is there to block the access to the Goal?
Fortunately we dispose of free will, and with that power, we all possess consciously or unconsciously the secret of happiness, for which we are destined.
In gratitude and with all best wishes for the New Year, and with all our love from Hidayat and Aziza
Notes
The different type of "keys" (swords of wisdom) could be understood as the various methods used in the moulding process of the ego, called "The Art of personality".
The "Temple of Love" could be understood as the "Temple of God".
The "Beloved" could be understood as "The Divine presence".
The "Goal of Happiness" could be understood as the "Awakening to Spirituality",and many more of these references to the Esoteric school.

A New Year's Message from Pir-o-Murshid Hidayat Inayat Khan (December, 2006)
Beloved Brothers and Sisters in the Message,
In view of the coming New Year, let us always keep in mind that in
our sacred task as representatives of the Message of Spiritual
Liberty, the "Spirit of Guidance", is always present, silently
guiding us on the path, inasmuch as we feel our responsibilities
toward the spreading of the Message.
Each one of us could be seen as an individual lamp shining out in
different shades of light. The brightness of that light varies in
accordance with the inner condition of the heart, although all are
blessed with the same current of the "Spirit of Guidance", guiding
each in different ways, and in so doing, contributing to the Divine
Cause, assigned to us all by providence.
May this New Year offer to us all, the opportunity of inspiring
experiences in unison with our Master, and may the blessings from
above be constantly with us.
Most heartedly, your affectionate Brother and Sister
Hidayat and Aziza

A New Year's Message from Murshida Rabia (January, 2005)
As this New Year opens to us, may our hearts, minds and intentions turn to the inward motivation
that wishes to remove suffering and harm from all beings.
Let our resolve rest in the calm, clear tapestry of awakened conscious connections.
In this way every relationship between mother, father, daughter, son, teacher, guide, friend, stranger, plant, animal and space inclusively benefit from our vibrant effort that reveals woven karmic threads of ever-expanding goodness.
Be the Light you wish to see!
